Brief Bio:

Tanya Whitehouse OAM has worked in the Domestic Violence sector for over 27 years. Her lengthy experience and knowledge base allows her to be a strong advocate on many levels. In addition to being the Program Coordinator for Macarthur Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service she wears many other hats – Tanya is also the Chair of Women’s Safety NSW, the peak body for the 27 WDVCAS’ statewide, is the Convenor for the Camden/Wollondilly Domestic Violence Committee and also is one of the Deputy Chairs of Blue Wren House – Camden Women’s Shelter. She also sits on many other committee groups.

Tanya has a strong passion for those women who have not yet found their voice. She will advocate across the sector with other services and Government departments so that the client is heard.

Macarthur WDVCAS is a Domestic Violence specialist service that covers the whole Macarthur region. She has consulted on many levels around the systemic issues surrounding Domestic Violence and liaises with local services weekly.

Tanya’s work in the DV sector has resulted in her receiving an OAM in January 2020. This Award was given to recognise her service to the community through welfare initiatives. She was also announced as the Camden Woman of the Year in 2018. She is very keen to see a long standing dream of a Shelter for women in the Camden LGA and has long been a strong voice on the complexity of Domestic Violence.

Tanya’s goal is to continue to inform and empower the community to say no to Domestic Violence and encourage the community to support the Blue Wren House Shelter initiative.
