Lyn has had a diverse career and can talk a lot about transferable skills and how important these are. Moving from a 20-year career in the beauty industry, as a self-employed salon owner, her learnings and skills travelled with her then to a variety of different roles.
Each hairdressing salon Lyn purchased, she also took on a second job in hospitality until the bank manager was paid off. Then at a sprightly 40 years of age, some health issues directed her to a career change, and Lyn commenced a gorgeous B&B in Picton. From this, and of course her further learned and transferred skills, she ended up working for Wollondilly Council as their Tourism & Economic Development Team Leader in the beautiful Old Picton Post Office for 11 years until she retired at the elite age of 50.
Some of Lyn’s skills that she ‘transferred’ included customer service; dealing with difficult customers, employers and employees; balancing the financials, accountability and meeting corporate KPIs.
One of the fundamental learnings she used in all her of her roles was Body Language and undertaking some further courses with Alan Pease. The art of reading between the lines of what people are "Really" saying is a skill we use every day - at work, at home with our children and families and with friends.
For Lyn, being able to meet the needs of customers and stakeholders is essential in business and life.

We look forward to Lyn sharing her journey with us and providing some insight into her ‘learned and transferred’ tricks along her path. Please join us too by registering by the event link.
